Week 3

Week #3 Today's post is a bit late because of the packed weekend. Saturday was the CCSI annual talent show, Sunday I attended worship at Alive International church, and yesterday Heidi, Kate and I tagged along on a tour of Tokyo lead by one of the short term missionaries.  Seeing Tokyo for the first time was so exciting! I enjoyed every moment of it. The sheer amount of people and buildings was staggering. On the long train ride home, however, I couldn't help but feel a deep sadness as I thought of the thousands of people in that city and all over Japan that are living without the hope of the gospel. I was flung past hundreds of people I would never know or get to share the gospel with. It is a sobering thought that still hangs over me today. Please pray that more people would be sent into Japan, and that more churches would be planted in Tokyo. I've settled into the pace here a little more and am really enjoying teaching English and art. Week 2

Week 2 has sped by! The school schedule is packed so I don't have as much time as I thought I'd have to sit down and blog. I'm learning a lot about myself here though!  When I was younger I always felt opposed to to the suggestion of being a teacher, but now I can really see myself enjoying it. It's a unique opportunity to mold the early lives of children and point them to Christ by setting an example of love. As a teacher, you not only have the opportunity to influence the lives of children but adults as well. I am inspired by a ministry that the school and church here started called "Open House." A couple of the missionaries and interns run these English classes for adults with a bible study built in at the end. I could see this model for teaching about Christianity working well across all Japan as many Japanese adults are interested in learning English.
